Such a lovely place & story of the building.
This is a fantastic place to stay! We stayed in the Chauffeurs Lodge which is small but perfectly formed. The room was very clean and warm: the furnishings are modern and the bed is very comfortable, with beautiful linen. There is a fridge, cutlery and plates so you can prepare simple food if necessary. Chrissy and Martyn are wonderful hosts - it was like staying with friends - indeed they are the sort of people that you would like to have as friends. Breakfast - there are several choices - is served in the cottage with lovely views over the lake. Kingfisher Retreat is well situated for all parts of the New Forest; Salisbury, Shaftesbury and the south coast are within an easy drive. Martyn gave us maps of the local area showing interesting drives and the location of various pubs and places to eat. Many of these have been reviewed by guests which is helpful. It was cold and wet during our stay just after Easter but our room was always cosy and a pleasure to return to at the end of the day. If we could give 5+ stars we would.
